Strong use of technology skills provides a window to the entire world. At Niemes Elementary we assist students in broadening their perspectives and in preparing for their futures through the use of up-to-date, state-of-the art technology programs, hardware, accessories and instruction.
All students receive weekly instruction in our computer lab from our full-time computer expert/instructor. Student also work on projects and activities in their in-classroom technology centers in grades kindergarten through sixth. Our 5th and 6th grade students participate in a 1:1 Chromebook Program while our 4th grade participates in a 2:1 Chromebook program.
Wireless mobile labs give whole classes the opportunity to do research in the regular classroom and to take their research activities outdoors for environmental studies and reports. Computer mirroring projection boards and DVD cameras allow classroom teachers to show the computer screen on the whiteboard, projected large enough to share with the entire class and to demonstrate computer projects before students work independently.
In 2012, Niemes was awarded the Verizon Innovative School Award for our work in implementing a successful iPad program. One school was chosen in California and twelve schools were chosen in the Nation!
